Cold Fire
This is a watercolor illustration of an original formalwear design using a live model. The painting was done on 140lb, gray colored, cold-press cotton paper, using Grumbacher Artist's watercolor and sable brushes. Note the combination of oil-like effects with the traditional wash. The gown was inspired by the cumberbund of a man's tuxedo and should be constructed of heavy satin to hold the quilted-pleating across the bodice. The empire waisted skirt of the gown should be cut on the bias. |
